Mcklinley Science Center. Adults, $10, Scouts $8.

Welcome!

Pack 44 is a BSA family pack, which means girls are welcome to participate fully with all activities and earn awards alongside their peers. As with all cub units, scouting is a whole-family activity. Parents are encouraged to participate with their scouts and siblings are welcome to join us for outings and other activities.

What is Scouting?

Cub Scouts are part of the BSA, which in turn is part of the World Scouting Movement founded by Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Scouting is a program designed to have fun while learning new skills and trying new things. Our mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The methods we use to achieve our mission include games, lessons, and outdoor activities. Cub Scouts will learn the fundamentals of camping. We build and race pinewood derby cars and we launch model rockets. We explore the outdoors and learn about civics.

What does Scouting cost?

A general estimate is about $150 per year, per scout. Every year is different -- During the summer, the Pack Committee meets to plan the year ahead and the costs begin to take shape. There are "recharter" fees set by the BSA national org. There are uniforms for the scouts and there are activities, awards, and materials necessary to deliver the program. We never want finances to be a barrier preventing participation and there are scholarships available.

Time is a factor of cost, too. During the school year we have meetings most Mondays, from 6:30 - 7:30pm. Younger Dens (K - 2nd grade) usually meet every other week, while older dens (3rd - 5th grade) meet every week. Most months also include some kind of activity or outing, often on a weekend.

How do I join?

Please come to a meeting and request an application or sign up online. You can also reach out to one of our leaders to learn more or discuss any additional questions you have.

After joining, what's next?

Parents, please complete our Family Talent Survey. Your den leader will be in touch to provide connections for Scout Book, which is a resource that includes calendar events and tracking for your scout's achievements. We will also connect on Slack, which is a tool Pack 44 uses for communication.

If you're willing to partner with us as a leader, BSA provides a ton of resources and training. Please speak with our committee and we can point you in the right direction.
